The Zonta Club of the Oneida Area will hold dinner meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Theodore's in Canastota. The event will start with social time at 5:30 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Matthew Urtz, Madison County historian, who will talk on women's rights and the suffragette movement in Madison County. His presentation will feature the women who were for and against women's suffrage.
Utilizing minutes from the "Oneida Civic & Political Club" and the "Cazenovia Woman Against the Passage of Woman Suffrage," talking points will be looked at for both sides of the argument, organizers said. The event will feature some of the important women involved and how the movement ultimately helped voters decide to pass woman suffrage in 1917, nearly 70 years after the first women suffrage convention in 1848, organizers added.
Members are encouraged to bring guests to the November meeting to enjoy the presentation, club officials said.
