Youth football summer camp slated
ROME — Rome Free Academy and the city’s Parks and Recreation Department are collaborating for a youth football summer camp for players ages 6-12 for seven days in July at RFA Stadium.
The camp will be run by RFA coaches and players. The cost is $30 and includes a T-shirt.
The camp will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11; Wednesday, July 12; Tuesday, July 18; Wednesday, July 19; Monday, July 24; Wednesday, July 26; and Friday, July 28. The first half of each day’s camp will be conditioning and coordination training. The second half will be football skills and drills.
The non-padded camp is designed to teach techniques for young players who want to learn about football and develop their skills. Campers will learn the basics of football skills, position fundamentals and individual techniques. Instruction will be held for all positions, and campers will have equal time for offensive and defensive practice sessions.
“All instruction will be done in an energetic and supportive atmosphere,” the camp’s announcement noted.
