YMCA offers winter break program for kids
ROME — The winter school break, Feb. 20-24, is fast approaching and the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley will offer a daily enrichment program during the school vacation for children in kindergarten through age 12.
Registration is now open for Oneida, Rome and Whitesboro on the YMCA website, www.ymcatrivalley.org.
YMCA Vacation Fun Club is a state-licensed, safe, and nurturing environment from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for students from any school district.
Participants will be celebrating the Olympics with activities that include arts and crafts, physical fitness, science, character development, outdoor play and more.
Daily rates for YMCA members are $50 for the first child and $45 for second child. Non-member rates are $60 for the first child and $55 for second.
Special activities for the February vacation include:
- Monday, Feb. 20: Fun and Games – explore new and familiar games, virtual Olympic-style competitions with the other YCare groups.
- Tuesday, Feb. 21: Snow Fun – indoor and outdoor activities.
- Wednesday, Feb. 22: Winter Olympic Animals – animal themed activities.
- Thursday, Feb. 23: Creative Olympics – arts and crafts, painting plus CEE Science Fun at each location.
- Friday, Feb. 24: Y Olympics Race Day – full day of racing-style games and activities, virtual competition with other YCare groups.
“The Vacation Fun Club program offers inclusive, age-appropriate fitness, arts and sciences and character development activities in a safe and affordable environment,” said Holly Panebianco, YMCA regional childcare director. “We continue to follow COVID safety precautions recommended by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and the New York State Department of Health.”
Each child is asked to bring a nutritional lunch, healthy snacks, water bottle, swimsuit, towel, sneakers and outside play clothes.
The school vacation program is offered at the Rome YMCA, 301 W. Bloomfield St., 315-336-3500; the Oneida YMCA, 701 Seneca St., 315-363-7788; or Tree House YMCA Child Care Center, Trinity United Methodist Church, 8595 Westmoreland Road, Whitesboro, 315-768-6712.
