ROME — Are you ready for 2023?

The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley in Rome and Oneida are inviting area residents to kick off the new year “and new you” on Monday, Jan. 2.

Beginning Monday, fitness class participants at the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley will have two weeks to earn activity points and be entered to win prizes.

The “New Year – New You” fitness challenge encourages members and day pass holders to try the many group exercise classes the Y has to offer. Try them out, tally your participation points and discover how training takes on a whole new meaning.

“The secret to sticking with an exercise program is finding activities you enjoy and keep you coming back,” said Rome YMCA Wellness Team Leader Aaron Calandra. “We offer classes for all ages and fitness levels, including water classes that are unique to the Y.”

“Regardless of where you are on your fitness journey, our classes are designed to help everyone meet their health and wellness goals,” Calandra said. “Come in during the first two weeks of January and find your passion.”

Participants will earn double points for classes attended from Jan. 2-8 and regular points from Jan. 9-15. Turn in your participation card on the Jan. 15 and winners will be selected on Jan. 16.

“Our members talk about the comradery and friends they find in our group classes,” said Madison Robinson, Health and Wellness coordinator at the Oneida YMCA. “The Y offers a diverse class schedule to meet our members’ needs – from morning to evening and weekend options.”

She said, “Classes are co-ed and far from ‘routine.’ One day you may want to work on cardio and the next day include strength training. Add flexibility and balance and you have a well-rounded fitness program without leaving the Y.”

The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley employs certified instructors with a variety of expertise to help plan a fitness class program that meets individual goals and abilities.

Gym and pool class schedules and membership information can be found on the YMCA’s website at www.ymcatrivalley.org.
