ROME — Kick-off the holiday season the healthy way with the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley.

Both branches, at 701 Seneca St. in Oneida and at 301 W. Bloomfield St. in Rome, will be giving out free day passes from Wednesday, Nov. 23, through Sunday, Nov. 27. Everyone age 16 or older with photo ID (individuals under age 16 must be accompanied by an
adult) will be able to:

  • Swim or try a water exercise class;
  • Attend fitness classes – everything from Silver Sneakers, Spin to Zumba;
  • Try out the weight rooms and cardio equipment for teens and adults;
  • Talk to staff, instructors and trainers;
  • Use our childcare services while you work out; and
  • Learn about our youth and adult leagues such as basketball, fencing, and pickleball.

In addition, new members can save money during the Y’s Black Friday Event on Friday, Nov. 25. The new member joiners fee is reduced to $25, up to a $50 savings. In addition, the first 25 members to bring in a new member will receive a YMCA tee shirt.

“Winter is coming and it’s the perfect time to bring your workouts and activities indoors,” said Nikki Smith, Rome YMCA membership director. “Our Thanksgiving special and Black Friday event gives individuals and families an opportunity to get acquainted with all the YMCA has to offer.”

“Swim lessons, a tai chi class for arthritis and a special winter work-out program for members are just a few of the new things coming up at the Y,” said Rebecca Rahauiser, membership director at the Oneida branch. “We encourage you to come meet us, join a class or youth activity and ask for a tour.”

Pool, gym and class schedules can be found on the YMCA’s website at www.ymcatrivalley.org. For additional information, call your nearby branch: Rome 315-336-3500 or Oneida at 315-363-7788.

The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley serves the greater Rome, Oneida and New Hartford areas with programs and services for the whole family. It is a 501c3 charitable non-profit organization with two primary branches in Rome and Oneida and school-age childcare in the New Hartford area. The Y’s mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
