CHITTENANGO — Rather than cutting a ribbon, the Yellow Brick Road Casino and Sports Book christened their latest major expansion with a roll down their new bowling lanes.
“I joined the YBR team last year with more than 30 years of gaming experience and it’s already been a terrific time here,” said YBR General Manager Lynn Segars. “So much of what I’ve been working on these last few months is what we are unveiling today.”
YBR’s latest expansion is a 19,400 square foot entertainment venue called “The Lanes”, featuring a six-lane bowling center from Brunswick Bowling, two Topgolf Wing Suite bays, multiple pool tables, shuffleboard, sports-betting desk, more than 65 slot machines, more than 20 LED, and a full-service bar and dining area.
“The growth and continued success across Oneida Nation enterprises and it’s all been driven by Ray Halbritter’s leadership and vision,” Segars said. “He’s understood the value of innovation and looking forward. Today’s Yellow Brick Road stands as a testament for his vision for great things.”
Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter said The Lanes’ opening marks the beginning of a new era of “fun and excitement” at YBR.
“In the past year, YBR has undergone a massive, multi-phase, $10 million renovation that started with the opening of The Lounge with Caesar Sports, which stands as New York’s largest sportsbook,” Halbritter said. “We also undertook the total renovation of our gaming floor and opened a new restaurant ‘Burgers of Madison County’. Today completes the property’s transformation.”
Halbritter went on to say there will be an exterior renovation completed in the spring, reflecting “...the area’s industrial history with a contemporary flair”.
Halbritter thanked Topgolf and Brunswick Bowling, saying the Oneida Indian Nation chose to partner with these iconic brands for being the best in recreational entertainment and gaming.
“Before we opened YBR in 2015, this space was an underused shopping plaza,” Halbritter said. “But the Oneida Indian Nation saw huge potential and knew that revitalizing this place would be a great addition to Chittenango.”
Halbritter thanked local and Madison County officials for sharing the belief that “...a rising tide lifts all boats”.
“We have a symbiotic relationship,” Halbritter said. “As our enterprises succeed, our community succeeds. We appreciate your partnership along this journey.”
Robert Simpson, president and chief executive officer, of CenterState CEO, said having grown up in Upstate New York, he’s had a front-row seat his entire adult life to the investments made by the Oneida Indian Nation throughout the area.
“It’s incredible when you think about it,” Simpson said. “It’s a $10 million investment here in this facility and you can see it already. But it’s not just an investment in this facility. In all of our partnerships with the Nation, we’ve always been thrilled and pleased by the commitment of the Nation to work with local vendors.”
Shawn Butler, vice president of construction and service at Brunswick Bowling, said Brunswick is excited to be a part of The Lanes.
“This is a phenomenal venue that will, hopefully, be enjoyed by the local community for years to come,” Butler said.
Tim Trendell, director of nightlife and beverage operations, said he moved to New York from Las Vegas two years and joined the Oneida Indian Nation.
“I spent a decade working for the Wynn organization and we were at the forefront of some of the most recognized entertainment venues in the world,” Trendell said. “But I moved here because I saw the ongoing commitment Ray Halbritter made, continuing to add to the entertainment value of all the properties. The Oneida Indian Nation is up to par when it comes to creating the ultimate entertainment experience.”
Yellow Brick Road Casino is located on 800 W Genesee St, Chittenango and open 24/7.
