Yards at Erwin Park damaged by vehicle, police investigating
BOONVILLE — The Boonville Police Department is investigating some intentionally vandalized lawn space near Erwin Park after someone tore up the grass with a vehicle.
"It was a mess. This went above and beyond someone just messing around," said Officer Fred Robenski, officer-in-charge of the Boonville Police Department.
Village park officials discovered the damage Saturday morning in the lawns alongside Moose River Road, off Route 12, near Erwin Park. It is believed that someone "spun their tires" for more than 100 feet through the grass, digging up dirt, mud and grass, Robenski stated.
"It was enough that it required the street department to get in there to clean the dirt and grass out of the roadway," Robenski stated.
Anyone with information on the lawn vandalism is asked to call Boonville Police at 315-338-2882 or email: police@villageofboonvilleny.com.
