World Series of Bocce — the 47th — has begun
The World Series of Bocce opened Thursday night with Women’s Division competition. The four-day event at the Toccolana Club, 1412 E. Dominick St., runs through Sunday, with Open Division games beginning Friday. It’s the 47th world series, back after two years due to COVID-19.
Participation this year is close to the pre-pandemic numbers. This year there are 98 teams in open and 33 for women’s.
Play continues Saturday, with tournament finals on Sunday.
The World Series also included several contests, such as the pointing contests and the sixth annual Facciolo Brothers Spock Shot Challenge on Thursday.
There’s also local bands performing and food by The Franklin Hotel.
