SYLVAN BEACH — A free workshop on financial exploitation of seniors will be held at the American Legion in Sylvan Beach on Sept. 17, hosted by Adirondack Bank.

The workshop will be about some of the most common financial scams targeting seniors. Attendees will learn how to protect themselves and their loved ones from common scams, along with what resources and agencies are available in the county to help.

The workshop will run from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. The workshop will feature a presentation from the District Attorney’s Office, a video on scams, and a question and answer session with the county Office of the Aging, members of the Oneida County Elder Abuse Coalition, the District Attorney’s Office and Adirondack Bank. Registration is not necessary, but would be appreciated, officials said. You can register at 315-762-4750.
