Workshop covers how to plant city trees

A workshop on how to select and plant trees in an urban setting is planned for 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Friday at the Central New York Conservancy, 1641 Genesee St., Utica, according to an announcement by event organizers.

The workshop is presented by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Central New York Conservancy, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County, and the New York ReLeaf Program, a project of the Urban Forestry Program in DEC’s Division of Lands and Forests.

Topics for the workshop at the Central New York Conservancy will include selecting the right tree and planting of containerized, ball and bur lapped and bare root trees.

There will also be a tree planting demonstration, the announcement by the event organizers
added.
