Work begins on green dorm at SUNY Poly

UTICA (AP) — Work has begun on an environmentally friendly dormitory at SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s campus in Marcy.

When complete, the $33.5 million, energy efficient dorm will boast solar power generation, green spaces and a rain garden system to retain stormwater runoff. The 257-bed resident hall is designed to generate as much or more energy as it uses.

The dorm is scheduled to open to students in August 2020.
