Woman hospitalized after car/deer accident

CAMDEN — A 52-year-old woman was hospitalized after her SUV hit a deer on Hillsboro Road shortly after midnight this morning.

Sheriff’s deputies said Lisa Fortino, of Williamstown, Oswego County, was westbound on Hillsboro at about 12:15 a.m. when a deer ran out into her lane. Deputies said Fortino was unable to avoid the animal and her 2014 Honda SUV collided with the deer.

Fortino complained of back pain and she was taken to the Oneida Health Care Center, authorities said. Her husband and passenger, James Fortino, age 59, was not injured, deputies said. No tickets were issued.
