Woman dies of suspected medical emergency at Enchanted Forest

OLD FORGE — An Onondaga County woman was pronounced dead after a suspected medical emergency at Enchanted Forest Water Safari on Sunday, according to law enforcement officials.

Webb Police said Kailey J. Morrell, 23, of Mattydale, was having trouble breathing while walking up an incline at one of the water slides, and then continued to have breathing troubles once she was down and out of the water. Police said Morrell has asthma and used her inhaler, and soon she collapsed and went into cardiac arrest.

Police said it is believed that Morrell suffered a severe asthma attack.

Water Safari lifeguards and responding EMTs started CPR and used a defibrillator on Morrell, but they were unable to revive her, authorities said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to law enforcement officials.

Morrell’s death remains under investigation by Webb Police, with assistance from the
Herkimer County coroner and Albany Medical Center.
