ROME — A 23-year-old woman is accused of attacking her grandmother with pepper spray on Floyd Avenue, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said Gabriella N. Silvestry, of Rome, went to her grandmother's home in the 900 block of Floyd Avenue at about 9:53 p.m. May 9 and attacked her. Police said Silvestry struck her grandmother in the back of the head about 10 times, and sprayed her with what appeared to be pepper spray.

The victim was taken for medical treatment afterward, authorities stated. Evidence was then presented to Rome City Court and a summons was issued for Silvestry. She answered the summons on Tuesday.

Silvestry is charged with second-degree harassment and unlawful possession of a noxious substance, police stated. She is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
