Winter Fair 2023 coming to Expo Center at NYS Fairgrounds
SYRACUSE — It’s “all the fun of the fair” as the Winter Fair returns Feb. 3-5 inside the Expo Center at the New York State Fairgrounds, 581 State Fair Blvd.
Winter Fair 2023 is from 2-10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3; from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4; and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 and features the food, rides, music and entertainment that people enjoy in the summer. There will be a mini-midway with Main Event Amusements rides including the Roc-o-Plane, the Scrambler, Giant Slide, a merry-go-round, Clown-Around Fun House, the new Dragon Coaster, plus more.
Food vendors include Villa Pizze Fritte, Kikk’s Authentic Greek Cuisine, Limp Lizard, Hoffmann, Baked Potato Express, Glazed & Confused Donuts, Pizza from Paradise, Razzle Dazzle, Sarita’s Spanish Cuisine, Oompa Loompays, Dean’s Concession, Paradise Ice Cream and the new Who Want Smoke. There will also be beer, wine, lemonade, coffee, hot chocolate, water and wine slushies from Ashley Lynn.
Music performers Feb. 3 include Paul Davie with a Beatles tribute, Letiza and The Ripcords. Feb. 4 showcases Austin Jimmy Murphy, the duo of Colin Aberdeen and Max Eyle, The Barndogs and Brass Inc. Feb. 5 features 5 to Life, a 90-minute Gospel Sunday program presented by the NAACP. Wrapping up Winter Fair 2023 will be The Brownskin.
Additional entertainment includes the Six Nations Native American dancers, martial arts demonstrations with Karate John’s, Irish dancers from St. Francis Academy, a fashion show with LS Jones, Latino Dancing with La Familia, multi-cultural entertainment with the New Americans and Immigrants community and a Gotta Dance performance.
A new feature will be a high school band competition from 1-2:30 p.m. Feb. 4. The grand prize will be $500 to the winning band along with unlimited midway rides wristbands. Runners-up will receive $250 and third place takes $100.
Onondaga County will present Winter Fair fireworks at 9:30 p.m. both Feb. 3 and 4 by the Expo Center.
There will be special areas for the NAACP Van Robinson Pan African Village, the Six Nations Indian Village, the Latino Village and for the New Americans and Immigrants. Ice sculptures will be lining the walkway to the Expo Center.
The NAACP will be managing the coat check and will receive a portion of the proceeds. The Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Fund will be exhibiting in the event.
The Price Chopper/Market 32 Winter Fair Hoops will be back with attendees shooting baskets and winning prizes for donations to the Boys and Girls Club of Syracuse through the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.
Advance sale tickets are $5 and $3 for teens, pre-teens and seniors. Children 10 and under are free. Tickets are available now at www.nyswinterfair.com.
Admission at the door is $7 and $5 for teens/pre-teens and seniors, with children 10 and under free.
Parking is free for all advance ticket holders. If attendees come after 7 p.m., admission to Winter Fair will be free and parking will be $10.
