William “Bill” Williams Jr., 79, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Siegenthaler Center in New Hartford. He was born in Rome on January 24, 1939, the son of the late William “Buster” and Jennie Lombino Williams. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On September 7, 1957, he married the love of his life, Ann Marie Coluccio. She passed away on October 11, 2015.
Bill possessed a strong work ethic. He was a project superintendent with Eastern Rock Products of Utica, NY.
Bill had strong values and proudly instilled them upon his family.
He was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church.
He enjoyed playing cards with his buddies, especially poker and gin.
Bill is survived by: a daughter, Lori Ann Trifeletti of Rome; three sons, William J. Williams and his wife Marie, of New Hartford, Robert J. Williams and his fiancé Karen Brognano, of Rome and Mark J. Williams of Horseheads, NY; three sisters, Joan Homan of Rhode Island, Frances Millette of Maine and Marie Corzine of Illinois; eight cherished grandchildren who called him “Papa”, Derek, Devin, Tyler, Trevor, Christina, Marisa, Jenna and Marc; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Charlie Constantino and Jim “Brown” Brognano. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Tony Trifeletti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care or Loaves and Fishes of Rome.
