Willard L. Burk, 82, of Rome, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019, at the Grand where he had been a resident since May 16, 2019.
He was born on July 13, 1936, in Rome, the son of Clarence and Mildred Paddock Burk. He attended Rome schools.
On September 13, 1984, he was united in marriage to Ruthanne Slatterly.
Willard proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.
He was a truck driver for most of his life. He drove for Cyprus Wire and Cable and then later Rome Cable.
He enjoyed getting together with family and square dancing.
Surviving besides his wife, Ruthanne; are his children, William (Nicole) Burk, of IL, Terri (Gerald) LaMay, of Rome, Jerry Burk, of Rome, Thomas (Crystal) Denton, of Boonville, Wayne Sellnow, of Rome, and Robert (Tracey) Sellnow, of IL; his step-children, Christine (Darren) Bienvenue, of Camden, Carrie Vaughn, of Rome, and Beverly Vaughn, of Syracuse; three sisters, Beatrice Brown, of Watkins Glen, Elizabeth Pepple, of PA, and Mary Ott, of NC; two brothers, Ward Burk, of Rome, and Steven (Patricia) Burk, of Pulaski; the mother of his children, Maryellen Compo, of IL; fifty-four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Willard was predeceased by a son, Eugene Denton; a grandson, Wayne Sellnow, Jr.; a step-son, Marshall Vaughn, Jr., and two sisters, Shirley Mangan, and Evelyn Bourgeois.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
