‘Why Animals Interest Poets’ presentation Feb. 14


UTICA — Onno Oerlemanns, associate Dean of Faculty and professor of literature and creative writing at Hamilton College in Clinton, will give the presentation, “Why Animals Interest Poets: The Example of Birdsong,” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 at The Other Side Gallery, 2011 Genesee St.

During the talk, part of the Hamilton College at The Other Side Lecture Series, Professor Oerlemanns will explore the use of animals, particularly birds, by English-speaking poets, paying special attention to Keat’s “Ode to a Nightingale,” Coleridge’s “The Nightingale,” and Whitman’s “Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking.”
