ROUNDUP: Whitesboro continues stellar pitching with rout of VVS ...
The Whitesboro pitching staff continued its dominance with a one-hitter Tuesday. The Warriors defeated host Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 17-0 in six innings for a Tri-Valley League win.
The Warriors scored two in the first, four in the second, two in the fourth, four more in the fifth and another five in the sixth.
Ty Montrose was 3-for-5 with a double, scored and drove in four runs. Tony Dorozynski was also 3-for-5 with a double, and scored twice. Max Pawlowski had a single, double, three runs and a stolen base. Colin Skermont had a hit, an RBI, three runs and a pair of stolen bases. Brian Zbytniewski walked twice and had four RBIs.
Zbytniewski was also the winning pitcher. He went four innings, allowing a hit and walking three while striking out six.
Jackson Horodnick had the Red Devils’ lone hit. Bryce Palmer took the loss on the mound.
Whitesboro, 11-0 and 7-0 in the league, travels to RFA for a league game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
VVS fell to 3-8 overall and 3-5 in the league. The Red Devils host Camden at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the league.
RFA offense opens floodgates
The RFA offense pounded out 15 hits in a 22-4 drubbing of host Central Valley Academy Tuesday in the TVL.
The Black Knights scored four in the first, extended the lead with six in the fourth and three in the fifth. They scored another nine in the seventh.
Seven RFA players had multi-hit games. Jake Premo had a single and triple, drove in five runs and scored twice. Marco Macri doubled twice, had three RBIs and scored three runs. Tanner Brawdy had two hits, three RBIs and a run. Jack Lawless singled and doubled, scored and drove in one. Marco Sparace was 2-for-3 with a run. Eli Marrero was 2-for-3 with two runs. Sonepith Keoviengsamay II was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
Brandon Sharron went 6 1/3 innings for RFA, allowing four runs, two of them earned, in the win. He allowed seven hits and walked two. He also struck out four. Premo went the final 2/3 of an inning, allowing one hit.
Braden Moreau suffered the loss on the mound, going three innings and allowing seven runs, all earned, on seven hits and a pair of walks. He struck out one.
Hudson Albrecht had three hits and drove in two runs for the Thunder. Miles Perry had two hits and scored a run.
RFA hosts TVL foe Whitesboro at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at RFA Stadium field.
CVA hosts Oneida at 7 p.m. Thursday in the league.
Proctor scores eight early in win
The Utica Proctor baseball team scored eight runs in the top of the first en route to a 14-3 win at Oneida in the TVL Tuesday.
Ty Bonner was 3-for-3 for the Raiders, with a double and triple, three runs and three runs batted in. Peyton Kimball tripled and drove in three. Angelo Podagrosi had two hits and scored twice. Todd Abraham had a hit, two runs and two RBIs. Jacob Lew was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
On the mound for Proctor, Kimball got the win. He went five innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and four walks. He struck out six. Martin Learnard went the final two innings, allowing an earned run on five hits.
Tom Lacy took the loss, going 1 2/3 innings while allowing 10 runs, six of them earned. He gave up six hits and walked three.
Gavin Sweet tripled, scored and drove in a run for Oneida. Lacy had two hits including a double and drove in a run. Kannon Curro was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Proctor will play a TVL doubleheader at Murnane Field in Utica against Utica Notre Dame starting at 4 p.m.
Oneida plays against TVL host Central Valley Academy at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Oriskany’s seven-run inning seals the victory
The Oriskany baseball team led 7-5 after five innings at South Lewis Tuesday, then put up seven more in the top of the sixth in the team’s 14-7 non-league win.
Nick Hays had a single and double, scored twice and drove in four runs for Oriskany. Eddie Wright was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs. Noah Narolis had two hits, two RBIs and scored once.
South Lewis’ Cody Spann had three hits, scored twice and dorve in a run. Drew Maurer was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Oriskany travels to the Town of Webb for a league game at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. South Lewis hosted Lyme Wednesday. Results were not available at press time.
