The Westmoreland/Oriskany boys soccer team opened the season with a 2-0 non-league win over Hamilton at home Tuesday.

The Bulldogs scored a goal in the first half and another in the second.

Scoring were Anthony Sawanec and Nick Hays. Jesse Sweet and Soirchio Hara assisted on a goal each.

David Cronauer made 10 saves in the win. Hamilton’s Cooper Roy stopped five shots.

Westmoreland/Oriskany plays at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 6 tonight in non-league play.

RFA boys soccer puts up 11 goals in big win

The Rome Free Academy boys soccer team exploded for 11 goals Tuesday, leading 5-0 at halftime on the way to an 11-3 win at Cazenovia in non-league play.

Collin Gannon scored twice and had two assists. Alex Rizzo also scored twice. Gavin Civitelli and Derek Roberts each had a goal and an assist. Also scoring a goal each were Ammanuel Mellace, Raheem Taylor, Paul Zimmerman and Aiden Mount. Jack Rushton had two asssts and Logan Wittmann, Christian Wilcox and Samuel Hilderbran had one each.

Matt McCormick made three saves in net for RFA.

Statistics for Cazenovia were not provided.

RFA, now 2-1, travels to Utica Proctor for a 4:30 game tonight in the Tri-Valley League.

Proctor boys top Whitesboro in soccer

Alan Catic scored both goals to power the Utica Proctor past Whitesboro in TVL boys soccer Tuesday at home. Amir Halilovic assisted on both goals.

Proctor scored one goal in the first half and another in the second.

Adim Gacic stopped six shots to earn the shutout for the Raiders.

Devin Trevisani stopped 10 shots in net for the Warriors.

Proctor improves to 2-1 and hosts RFA at 4:30 tonight in the league.

Whitesboro, 1-2, host New Hartford at 6 tonight in the league.

Ingmire scores five in Oneida soccer win

The Oneida boys soccer team got a 10-0 win at Camden in the TVL Tuesday. Spencer Ingmire scored five goals and had two assists.

Andrew Hicks scored and had two assists. Robert Paul had a goal and an assist. Also scoring once each were Ryan Hughes, Anden Mertens and Abram Colvin. Jacob Ariglio, Ryan Paul and Cash Kistner had an assit each.

In net for Oneida, Kannon Curro stopped all five shots he faced.

Camden’s Jack Chase stopped nine shots.

Oneida played at Central Valley Academy in the TVL Wednesday. Results were not available at press time.

Camden plays a league game against host Holland Patent at 7 tonight.

Poland shuts out Adirondack

The Poland boys soccer team defeated Adirondack 6-0 Tuesday at home in non-league play.

The lead was 5-0 at the half.

Wildcats goalie Kaiden Bailey had 16 saves in the loss.

Statistics for Poland were not submitted.

Adirondack plays at Remsen at 11 a.m. Saturday in another non-league matchup.

Kiser’s hat trick leads VVS past Holland Patent

Laiken Kiser scored three times to help Vernon-Verona-Sherrill’s girls soccer team to a 6-2 win Tuesday at Holland Patent.

Anna Petersen had a pair of goals for the Red Devils. Ella Cenname had the other goal. Julia Carter had two assists.

Grace Maranville (two saves) and Emma Dam (one save) spit time in net for VVS.

HP got a goal each from Makenzie Stalker and Chloe Swift. Faith Zylinsky assisted on both tallies.

HP’s Isabella Hobin stopped 12 shots.

VVS visits league foe Utica Notre Dame at 4:15 tonight.

HP will play at Camden in the league at 4:15 tonight.

RFA girls soccer held scoreless

The Liverpool girls soccer team shut out RFA 4-0 on the road Tuesday in non-league play.

Jailyn Parrotte scored twice for Liverpool, with a goal each added by Eliana Scivetti and Grace Muller.

Miranda McCormick stopped 11 shots in net for RFA.

The Black Knights host TVL foe Utica Proctor at 4:30 tonight.

Engel scores all three in CVA field hockey win

Claire Engel scored all three goals in Central Valley Academy’s 3-1 win over Herkimer in field hockey Tuesday on the road in non-league play.

Tria Rowland assisted on two of the goals and Hannah Sanchez had one assist.

Morgan Russo earned the win in goal with 15 saves.

Herkimer’s Audrey McDonnell scored on an assist from Emily Herringshaw.

Gracie Johnson made six saves in goal for Herkimer.

CVA was at non-league opponent Oneida Wednesday. Results were not available at press time.

Herkimer hosts Sauquoit Valley at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Center State Conference.

Adirondack swimmers outrace Holland Patent

The Adirondack girls swimming and diving team got an 81-52 home win Wednesday in the Center State League. It was both teams’ first meet of the season.

Adirondack won all three relay races.

The 200 medley relay team of Khilee Carlsbad, Emma Flansburg, Tesslynn Makuch and Hayley Kowalewsky won. So too did the 200 freestlye relay team of Kaitlyn Spann, Flansburg, Camryn Backer Paige and Renwick. The 400 freestyle relay team of Spann, Makuch, Backer and Renwick also won.

Winning individual events for the Wildcats were Renwick in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, Makuch in the 200 individual medley and Backer in the 50 and 100 freestyle.

Kowaleswsky also won the diving event.

HP individual event winners were Ainsley Crossway in the 100 butterfly and Jillian Enk in the 100 backstroke.

Adirondack swims at Utica Proctor at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the league.

HP hosts West Canada Valley at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the league.
