Westmoreland Drama Club presents ‘The Phantom of the Opera’
UTICA — The Westmoreland Drama Club presents their 2023 production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11, at The Stanley Theatre, 259 Genesee St.
Winner of seven 1988 Tony Awards including Best Musical, “The Phantom of the Opera” is the longest-running show in Broadway history with more than 13,000 performances to date and includes Webber’s unforgettable music, including “Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You” and the title theme.
Based on the classic novel “Le Fantôme de L’Opéra” by Gaston Leroux, “The Phantom of the Opera” tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command.
Tickets are $12 or $10 for students/seniors and can be purchased by calling The Stanley Theatre Box Office at 315-724-4000 or by visiting www.thestanley.org.
