Good-bye Andrew Cuomo. Welcome and congratulations to Gov. Kathy Hochul for being the first woman governor of New York.
I’m optimistic that for the first time in many years we can have a governor who will focus on solutions for the poor, working and middle class instead of keeping ultra-wealthy donors happy.
Before being the lieutenant governor, Hochul was a member of Congress, a county clerk, and town board member.
I find it to be a benefit to have a governor with experience of how local government works.
I feel confident she understands the issues facing rural upstate New York such as needing better cell and internet coverage, conservation of our natural resources, good paying careers and affordable housing.
Gov. Hochul is finishing out Andrew Cuomo’s term, which is up in 2022. She has already announced she will run for a full term, which will more than likely result in a primary. If she can govern in the best interests of the people instead of the ultra-wealthy, I think her chances of victory will be high.
