Weight loss options topic of talk Wednesday
UTICA — Rome Health bariatric surgeon Dr. Keneth Hall will provide information on medical and surgical weight loss options at a health lecture 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Utica.
The lecture will be held in Wilcox Hall Room WH225 at the Utica Campus of Mohawk Valley Community College. Advance registration is encouraged by calling 315-356-7770.
Hall is the medical director of Rome Health’s Comprehensive Bariatric Center. The bariatric specialist offers laparoscopic gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revision procedures, in addition to medical weight loss management.
Hall will provide insights into why severe obesity is a chronic condition that is difficult to treat through dietary modification and exercise alone. He will discuss the available options and how he helps patients determine which one is the best for them.
According to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, people who have a body mass index greater than 35 have less than 1% chance of reaching a normal body weight for a lasting period of time through diet and exercise alone. Studies show that medical problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, acid reflux and many other medical conditions may resolve after weight-loss surgery.
Hall has more than 13 years of bariatric surgical experience and has been involved in thousands of cases.
Before joining Rome Health in 2019, Hall was a bariatric surgeon at NYU Long Island, where he completed his fellowship training in minimally invasive, bariatric and robotic surgery. He served as the hospital’s director of bariatric quality improvement as well as director of surgical simulations.
Hall earned his medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, D.C., in 2005.
He completed his general surgery internship and residency at SUNY Stony Brook Medical Center. Committed to being on the leading edge of surgical advances, Hall has completed numerous specialized certifications and is an American College of Surgeons verified bariatric surgeon.
