Weapons, pot charges follow fracas


A 33-year-old man is facing multiple weapons felonies
following a fight outside a FasTrac in Utica very early Sunday morning.

Police said two men were fighting near the gasoline pumps at the FasTrac on Oneida Street at about 1:39 a.m. Sunday.

Police said the pair were
broken up and Thyrus Benson,
of Utica, was found with a
loaded 9mm handgun.

Benson is charged with one count each of second and third-degree possession of a weapon, both felonies, criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony, resisting arrest, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct, police stated.

He is scheduled to appear in court.
