Wallet theft charged at Utica DMV
UTICA — A 60-year-old man is accused of stealing another person’s wallet at the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Utica, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies said the wallet was stolen from the Main Street office on Aug. 8. The theft was investigated and deputies said 60-year-old William Hawkins Jr., of Utica, was identified as the thief.
Hawkins was located and taken into custody on Wednesday on one count of fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony, authorities said. He was released on an appearance ticket to Utica City Court.
