Wake up sleeper, let Christ shine

Ephesians 5:10-16 “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

Today is a wakeup call to all Christians everywhere. It’s time to rise and shine and let Christ shine wherever you are. Where there has been reluctance and lack of initiative to be the light of Christ in our community, we must be ready to shine as the Lord shines, and to expose the evil hidden in darkness.

God has called us to make the most out of every opportunity by doing the miraculous through supernatural power given by God. Its time to respond, and we must be called to action. For too long we have sat back and watched the world turn expecting people to come to us. God has called us out to “GO” and make disciples of all nations.

If we expect this nation to come to know Christ, and make a prodigious change, it is our duty to get up and represent Christ with fervent hearts.

This is not going to happen by hoping someone else will do it! No, it is time for all us to take responsibility, be inspired by God’s word, and take initiative to exploit the darkness and bring in the light.

Our nation is going through some very difficult times, and many are mourning through the pandemic and tumultuous changes going on in America. Rather than being critical of every detail, help be the change.

In Ezekiel chapter 37, one of my favorite passages is the valley of the dry bones. It was a valley of the dead and dry bones were lying all around. Verse 5 says, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.

Verse 11 says, “Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.” God breathed new life into these bones and they came to life and lived! This happened to show the sovereign Lord brings new life.

Friends, the Lord has spoken and wants new life brought into our communities. We need the Holy Spirit to breath on our nation and bring the dry bones to life. Only then will we see a spirit of unity and the power to overcome in all circumstances.

Now is the time to be praying and lifting our communities up. Prayer is our most powerful and affluent weapon.

God has called us to look to him, humble our hearts, and pray. The change will come, and our lands will be healed.

I’m calling on all of us to pray and ask God for forgiveness for our nation.

On Thursday, May 6, at the Delta Lake Bible Conference Center on Turin Road, we will be having our annual “National Day of Prayer.” (more info to come)

The theme this year is Love, Life, and Liberty. Our theme Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 3:17 that says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” I’m calling on our community leadership and everyone in our community to consider being there! This is an opportunity to break bread and pray for our nation and our community.

Wake up sleeper, let Christ shine! Be light, and display God’s glory. Pray hard and lift up our nation, and always give thanks to God for everything. This is our greatest need! May God bless our nation.
