VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Spartans top Blue Devils; Raiders notch victory

The New Hartford girls volleyball team got past host Camden in four sets in the Tri-Valley League Monday between the top team in each division. It was the last regular season match for both.

The Blue Devils won the first set 25-19. Then the Spartans won the next three — 25-13, 25-14 and 25-15 — to take the match.

Elise Courto had 16 kills and 15 digs for New Hartford, Makenzie Desmarais had 11 kills, six digs and four aces. Abby O’Connor had 28 assists, 17 digs and a pair of aces.

Statistics for Camden were not submitted.

New Hartford ends the regular season at 16-1 and atop the Colonial Division. The Spartans host Carthage at 6 p.m. Friday in the quarterfinals of the Section III Class A postseason tournament.

Camden, 1-8, is the regular season Pioneer Division champ. The Blue Devils host VVS at 6 p.m. Friday in the Class B quarterfinals.

Raiders notch victory

The Canastota girls volleyball team got a win in three sets at Frankfort-Schuyler Monday in the Center State.

The Raiders won sets 25-7, 25-12 and 25-10.

Amber Jacobs had two kills and two digs for Frankfort. Isabella Suppa and Destany Martinez had three digs each.

Statistics for Canastota were not submitted.

Canastota ends the season at 16-2 and will host Onondaga in the Section III Class C playoffs’ first round at 6 tonight.

Frankfort ends the season at 2-16. The team will play at Tully in the first round of the Class C tournament at 6 tonight.

Whitesboro wins at home

The Whitesboro girls volleyball team defeated visiting East Syracuse-Minoa in four sets Monday in the TVL.

The Warriors won the opening set 25-20 then ES-M won 27-25 before Whitesboro closed out the match with set wins of 25-19 and 25-21.

Whitesboro’s Riley Collis had 11 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Eva Quackenbush had nine kills, nine blocks and nine digs. Tessa Nash had 27 assists, eight digs and seven aces.

ES-M’s Akout Kuany had 16 kills and Natalie Peterson had 40 assists, 10 digs and four aces.

Whitesboro ends the regular season at 14-2 and will host Watertown in a Class A quarterfinal Friday.

RFA sweeps past Oneida

The RFA girls volleyball team swept visiting Oneida in three sets Monday in the TVL.

The Black Knights won sets 25-19, 25-12 and 25-11.

Thylia Keoviengsamay led RFA with 19 assists, four kills and four digs. Elizabeth Hanba had eight kills, five digs and a pair of aces.

For Oneida, Kaydence Bouchard had seven kills and Ella McKay had 14 assists and three digs.

RFA (11-3) hosts East Syracuse-Minoa at 6 p.m. Friday in the Class A quarterfinals.

Oneida (7-11) travels to Clinton at 6 p.m. Friday for a Class B quarterfinal match.
