View presents Oscar-nominated Animated Shorts Thursday
OLD FORGE — Local residents can get ready for the Academy Award season at View, the center for arts and culture at 3273 Route 28, with a special screening of the five Oscar-nominated Animated Shorts at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23.
The screening is free, and a cash bar and popcorn will be available for purchase.
With nominees from around the world and differing animation styles, the Oscar Shorts offers a wide range of themes, tones, and looks.
This year’s movies being screened are: “An Ostrich Told Me the World is Fake and I Think I Believe It” from Australia; “The Flying Sailor” from Canada; “Ice Merchants” from Portugal/France/UK; “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse” from the UK; and “My Year of Dicks” from the USA. All shorts are less than 35 minutes, with three being less than 15, for a total run time of 95 minutes.
For a full description of the shorts, visit ViewArts.org/performances.
The final film to be shown, “My Year of Dicks,” is intended for adult audiences and is not suitable for children. There will be a short break before it starts so that patrons, if they choose, can exit Gould Hall.
In addition to the Animated Short films, View will show the rest of the Oscar-nominated Shorts categories in early March. The nominations for Documentary Shorts will be shown on March 2 and Live Action Shorts will be on March 9. Both screenings are free and start at 7 p.m.
