OLD FORGE — View will offer an 8-week Botanical Portrait Colored Pencil Zoom workshop with instructor Bonnie Haney, running from April 25 through June 13. Classes will be held each Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
To do a portrait, students will draw a full plant from life. This class will develop observation and drawing skills, will teach composition, color theory and how to use color pencils. In addition, Haney will talk about perspective of plants and how to correctly draw shadows.
With all these techniques, students will be able to create a final drawing correctly portraying, texture, color, aerial perspective, and detail of the plant accurately. The class is for all levels, beginner to advanced.
Prices for the class are $135, $115 for members. Pre-registration is required and can be done online at ViewArts.org/workshops.
Bonnie Haney started studying and taking art lessons from a local and well-known teacher in her area and so began her love affair with the art world. Haney is now one of the artists giving those workshops, teaching classes and giving those lectures both locally and nationally. She is currently President of The Rochester Area Colored Pencil Club, a member of the Colored Pencil Club of America and currently a serving board member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and has consistently won awards such as Best of Show, Judges Awards and Merit Awards for her colored pencil work in many local shows.
