View announces upcoming jewelry workshops

OLD FORGE —View, the center of arts and culture at 3273 Route 28, will host earring, ring and pendant workshops in the coming weeks. All current COVID-19 guidelines will be followed. Pre-registration is required by calling 315-369-6411, or online at ViewArts.org/workshops.

Create “Hummies” Earrings with Tina Sieble on June 28: Do you love nature inspired jewelry? Have you ever wanted to learn how to fabricate and create statement pieces of your very own? Join renowned artist Tina Siebel, for a sterling silver jewelry workshop inspired by hummingbird feeders, on June 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The “Hummies” workshop is ideal for students of any level to create earrings inspired by your own backyard feeder. Students will learn to do their own fabrication and will work with materials such as argentium and sterling silver. Techniques in soldering, cutting, drilling, forming and attaching components will be taught through step-by-step class demonstrations. No previous experience needed.

The cost is $115, $95 for members.

Tina Siebel is the owner and designer of Serendipity Creations, a handcrafted artisan jewelry company. Sieble sells her work at Art Festivals, as well as galleries and retail stores across the country. She began intensive training in silversmithing four years ago and has been working with sterling silver ever since.

The Poppy Pendant workshop is ideal for students of any level to create a one-of- a-kind pendant inspired by nature. Students will learn to fabricate this poppy pendant, complete with its stamens. Use of jewelers’ saw, torch, files, drill and measurement of silver will be instructed step-by-step. Sieble will make sure everyone is pleased with a pendant that will easily fit over their own chain. Chains not included but will be available to purchase at the class.

Cost is $90, $80 for members. The registration deadline is June 22.

Create Wire-Wrapped Flower Rings at View on July 1 with Jackie Kolba: Join artist Jackie Koba for her Wire-WrapFlower Ring workshop, on July 1 from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Wire Wrapped Ring workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. This workshop will demonstrate the process and technique of wire wrapping, and how to incorporate wire designs around a glass flower. Students will have enough materials to make two glass rings. Jackie will lead with a step-by-step demonstration, then have participants create their own rings with her guidance.

The cost is $115, $90 for members.

Jacquelyn Koba has been a full-time, freelance artist and instructor since 2000. She specializes in glassblowing, jewelry design, metal smithing and also painting. Koba has taught several workshops over the years at View, as her knowledge continues to grow, she hopes to continue to share it.
