TOWN OF VERNON — A 28-year-old man is accused of choking his girlfriend during a domestic dispute on Simmons Road Sunday night, according to law enforcement officials.

Sheriff’s deputies said they were dispatched to a reported argument at a residence on Simmons Road at about 10:45 p.m. Sunday. Deputies said Alex J. Schwasnick, 28, of Vernon, got into an argument with his girlfriend, which later turned physical. Deputies said both Schwasnick and his girlfriend suffered minor injuries.

Deputies said Schwasnick was the primary aggressor in the fight and he was taken into custody. Deputies said they also learned that Schwasnick had gotten behind the wheel of a vehicle while drunk.
