VARSITY HOCKEY: Clinton win, RFA skates past Fulton
Kulpa scores four goals in Clinton win
Kooper Kulpa scored four goals to lead the Clinton boys hockey team past visiting Whitesboro 7-3 in league play Tuesday.
The hosts led 4-2 after a period and 7-3 after two. In addition to Kulpa’s scoring outburst, Caden Hinderling had a goal and three assists while James Crowley and Tyler Jarvis had a goal and an assist each. Caden Engle had two assists and Max Williams had one.
Will O’Brien made 22 saves in net to earn the win.
For Whitesboro, Memphis Ferguson scored twice and Santino Pedulla also scored. Kaeden Wood had three helpers, Tyler Stivali had two and Luke Johnson added one.
Kris Matthews had 42 saves and allowed seven goals in two periods of work. Matt Yardley made 13 saves in relief.
Clinton improves to 5-5 and plays at Liverpool at 8:15 tonight in non-league play.
Whitesboro falls to 3-10 and hosts Auburn at 7 tonight in Division 2.
RFA skates past Fulton
The Rome Free Academy ice hockey team doubled up visiting Fulton for a 6-3 league win Tuesday.
Jack Pylman scored twice for RFA. Jake Premo, Jimmy DeAngelo and John Sharrino had a goal and a pair of assists each. Carmen Orton also scored. Tyler Wilson and Christ Brement had an assist each.
Braeden Sturtevant made nine saves in net for RFA to earn the win.
For Fulton, Nico Tardibone scored twice and had an assist. Cuyler Penrod scored and had an assist. Alex Miller made 32 saves in net.
RFA is now 8-2-2 and hosts Ontario Bay at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the ninth annual Face Off Against Cancer benefit game.
