Varflex Educational Foundation awards dozens of scholarships

Posted

ROME —The Varflex Educational Foundation recently awarded college scholarships to 53 local students representing six school districts.

Grants ranging in amounts from $500 to $2,000 are being forwarded directly to 33 different institutions of higher learning on behalf of each student recipient.

Since its inception in 1996 and before this round of grants, the Varflex Educational Foundation had given out more than 629 scholarships and $562,200. Award recipients and amounts are determined by a scholarship committee made up of community representatives.

The committee considers recipients and award amounts annually based on academics, financial need and other factors. The children of Varflex employees are strongly encouraged to apply.

Varflex CEO Daniel Burgdorf stated, “The Griffin family was very dedicated to investing back into their own community by helping promising students fulfill their dreams and continue their educations. They also considered Varflex employees a part of their family and wanted to ensure they could give the next generation a leg up. We are honored to continue this meaningful legacy.”

Information about the application process is available through high school guidance offices in the following school districts: Adirondack, Camden, Oriskany, New York State School for the Deaf, Rome, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill and Westmoreland.
