Vandalism charged at Kennedy Plaza
UTICA — A Utica man is accused of damaging security cameras and other property at the Kennedy Plaza apartments early Saturday morning, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said Tyrus Magistro, 30, ripped three security cameras off the walls, damaged the front door and vandalized several elevator buttons at the apartment complex around 4:50 a.m. Saturday. When officers attempted to take him into custody, police said Magistro fought back and struggled with the officers.
Magistro is charged with one count of third-degree mischief, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
The police department noted that the charge is likely to be upgraded once the full estimate of damages is complete.
