Utica Zoo closed Friday and Saturday due to cold
UTICA — The Utica Zoo will be closed to visitors on Friday and Saturday due to the extreme cold temperatures, according to zoo officials.
The forecast for Friday and Saturday expects a high wind chill and sub-zero temperatures, which will impact the safety of the animals, officials said.
“When we get a forecast of potential sub-zero temperatures, our 100% focus is on the safety of our animals and staff caring for them,” said Andria Heath, Utica Zoo Executive Director.
“This kind of weather is not something that is atypical for our area and our staff have been preparing all week, installing extra heating units and making sure every animal has access to warm, dry areas.”
The Utica Zoo will re-open on Sunday, February 5 for their regular business hours, 10 a.m. – 4:30 pm.
