Utica standoff ends peacefully
UTICA — A brief standoff with an armed suspect on Churchill Avenue ended with the man in custody on Friday, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said there was a report of menacing at a residence in the 900 block at about 11:53 a.m. Police said one man involved barricaded himself in the home, leading to a standoff that lasted about 45 minutes before he surrendered into police custody.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are possible, authorities noted.
No one was injured. Area schools were placed on lockdown during the event and reopened shortly thereafter, police said.
