Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. will review key points from his recent State of the County address at Friday’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Utica.
His topics will likely include:
-- Establishing an entertainment and sports district in downtown Utica anchored by an expanded Utica Memorial Auditorium that includes luxury suite boxes, a casino to be operated by the Oneida Indian Nation and a craft beer museum.
-- Creating an economic development office inside county government, headed up by a director. The county now contracts with Mohawk Valley EDGE to serve as its chief economic development agent.
-- Moving forward with construction of a Mohawk Valley Health System hospital in downtown Utica to consolidate services now offered at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica and the St. Luke’s campus in New Hartford.
-- Consolidating services and functions among local governments.
The meeting begins at noon at the Fort Schuyler Club, 254 Genesee St.
