Utica-Rome Speedway to host backpack giveaway and autograph night

VERNON — The Utica-Rome Speedway will host the annual Bobby Page Foundation backpack giveaway as well as autograph night Sunday. Fifty-five children will get backpacks full of school supplies.

The cost Sunday is $20 per carload. The event features the 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, the Pro Stocks and the Rookie Sportsman.  

The autograph session will be on the speedway at 6, with hot laps at 6:45.

Erick Rudolph leads the 358-Modified point chase. The Ransomville, NY, driver has won four races in 2019. Defending champion Billy Dunn sits second trailing by 22 points. Pat Ward, Dave Marcuccilli and Billy Whittaker complete the top five.

Matt Janczuk has won four races in the Sportsman division. He has an 18-point lead over Kyle Inman. Alan Fink and Chris Mackey are third and fourth, respectively, with Dave Moyer and A.J. Filbeck tied for fifth.

Josh Coonradt and Nick Stone sit at the top of the Pro Stock points. Coonradt is a two-time winner on the season with eight points separating him and Stone. Mike Welch, Shane Henderson and Pete Stefanski make-up the rest of the top five.

Pit prices for the event are $30, and $27 for all DIRTcar Members. Pit gates will open at 4:30 while spectator gates open at 5. Racing starts at 7.
