Utica police accused man of gun possession following shooting incident


A 27-year-old man is facing multiple weapons charges following an incident of shots fired in Utica on Friday, according to law enforcement officials.

Police said they were dispatched to the intersection of James and West streets on Friday for the gunfire. Police said there were no victims and seven spent shell casings were found in the area.

The gunman was identified as 27-year-old Brandon Silvagnoli, of Utica, police said. He was located and taken into custody on Saturday.

Silvagnoli is charged with one count each of second and third-degree possession of a weapon, as well as criminal possession of a firearm, police said. He is scheduled to appear in City Court.
