Utica-Notre Dame eighth-grader Yerman top area finisher in state golf tourney

In the New York State girls golf championships at McGregor Links Country Club in Wilton, New York, on Sunday and Monday, the top local finisher was Kamryn Yerman, an eighth-grader from Utica-Notre Dame who was 28th in a field of 111.

Kennedy Swedick, a sophomore at The Albany Academies, won the tournament with a two-day total of 144, even par for the event. She was the day one leader with an even 72, then repeated the score to win by four strokes.

Yerman had a two-day total of 170.

Rome Free Academy sophomore Evie Denton finished tied for 35th. She shot a 174 over the two days.

Senior Sara Papale of Notre Dame finished tied for 84th with a total score of 208.
