UTICA — A Utica man wanted for absconding from parole was found with a quantity of heroin on Wednesday, according to the Utica Police Department.

Police said Rafael Morales was located in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn on Weaver Street on Wednesday by state parole officers, who were searching for him following a parole violation. Police said Morales was searched and was found with a quantity of heroin, a digital scale and packaging materials.

Morales is charged with one count each of third and seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, as well as two counts of second-degree use of drug paraphernalia, police stated. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
