A Utica man has been charged with stabbing a man in the chest during an altercation early Friday.
Utica Police said at 6:08 a.m., patrols responded to 705 John St., second floor, regarding a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, patrolmen found two male victims, one with cuts and another with a serious chest wound.
Police detained the victim with cuts and transported him to headquarters for questioning. The seriously injured man, who has not yet been identified, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for surgery. He has since been listed in critical condition, police said.
Following an investigation, Edmond R. Hyatt, 35, of Utica, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree burglary and first-degree attempted assault, as well as a misdemeanor weapons possession count. He will appear in City Court.
