A 19-year-old Utica man was charged with having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl back in August.

Oneida County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, director of Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, said in the early morning hours of Aug. 10, Rome Police notified the center regarding a vehicle stop of a parked vehicle where Hassan Mohamed was seen having sexual contact with the girl.

Utica Police Inv. Titus Ciccone, assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, conducted the investigation.

On Nov. 23, Mohamed turned himself in at the sheriff’s office, where he was taken into custody by Inv. Ciccone and Inv. Tyler Barnes of the sheriff’s office, charging him with two counts of sexual misconduct, a class A misdemeanor. Mohamed was arraigned on the charge in Central Arraignment Court, and was released on his own recognizance. O’Meara said an order of protection has been issued on behalf of the victim.

Services have been offered to the girl through the CAC.
