Utica man accused of robbing two businesses in Herkimer County
SCHUYLER — A Utica man is facing multiple charges for robbing two businesses at gunpoint in Herkimer County Thursday morning, according to the New York State Police.
Noah G. Nichols, 18, is charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree possession of a weapon, criminal use of a firearm, all felonies, and second-degree menacing, stemming from the incident.
Troopers said Nichols was armed with a gun when he robbed Juliano's Greenhouses and McGill's Tavern, both on Route 5, around 10:39 a.m. After a confrontation with the owner of McGill's, authorities said Nichols fled into a wooded residential area.
Nichols was soon located and taken into custody by state police, with assistance from several local police departments. Troopers said the weapon and proceeds from the robberies were recovered.
He was arraigned in court and was sent to Herkimer County jail on $150,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear in court.
