UTICA — A 46-year-old man is accused of pointing what appeared to be a handgun at police officers on Dudley Avenue late Friday night, according to the Utica Police Department.

Police said they were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Dudley Ave. around 11:45 p.m. for reports of a found handgun. Officers were directed towards a third-floor bedroom, and as they approached the door, police said Har Kin, 46, stepped out and pointed the handgun directly at the officers.

The officers ducked out of the way and took Kin into custody. Police said the weapon was found to be a BB gun designed as a replica of a SIG Sauer firearm.

Kin is charged with two counts of menacing a police officer, authorities said. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
