Utica man accused of menacing
UTICA — A 42-year-old man is accused of pointing what appeared to be a handgun at another person on Whitesboro Street, according to the Utica Police Department.
Authorities said Benjamin Martinez, of Utica, pointed a weapon at another person and threatened them at about 2:40 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Whitesboro St., on the city’s west side. Officers arrived on the scene and said Martinez was taken into custody without incident.
The handgun was secured and determined to be a realistic-looking BB gun, police stated.
Martinez is charged with one count each of second-degree menacing and third-degree possession of a weapon, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
