Four college hockey teams in the Utica-Rome area are ranked in the most recent US College Hockey Online Poll.

The rankings in the NCAA Division III poll are as follows:

• Utica men: No. 2 with three first-place votes.

• Hamilton women: No. 6.

• Utica women: Tied No. 15.

In the NCAA Division I poll:

• Colgate women: No. 5.

Utica University’s men’s team, led by Gary Heenan, was No. 2 in the last USCHO poll that was released in December.

Excluding an exhibition loss to USA Under-18 Team on December, Utica has an 11-game undefeated streak (10-0-1) since a loss to then-No. 1 ranked Adrian College in late October.

Utica improved to 10-2-1 this season and 8-0 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference play with a pair of road wins over host Manhattanville last weekend.

The Pioneers shut out the Valiants 3-0 on Friday before rallying for 5-4 comeback win Saturday.
The Pioneers are scheduled to play at home at 7 p.m. Friday against Neumann University at the Adirondack Bank Center.

Division III women

The Hamilton College women’s hockey team moved up seven spots to No. 6 in top 15 poll.

The Continentals are 10-2-0 overall and have won a team-record eight consecutive games with the last six all coming against nationally ranked opponents.

The Continentals, who have been led by Emily McNamara since 2012, played their sixth consecutive ranked opponent against No. 13 Nazareth College on Tuesday. Hamilton scored three consecutive goals to earn a 4-1 win in Clinton.

Hamilton is scheduled to host Williams College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) games at 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday. Williams received votes in this week’s poll.

The Utica women’s hockey team is at No. 15 after moving down a spot from the last poll in December. The team shares the No. 15 spot with Wesleyan University.

Utica is 10-1-1 overall with help from a 5-0 win over unranked SUNY Oswego on Tuesday at the Nexus Center. The Pioneers have an 11-game point streak that includes nine consecutive wins, including a 2-1 overtime win over Worcester State last Friday.

Utica is set to get a visit from Hamilton at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24.

Colgate moves up a spot

The Colgate women’s hockey team is No. 5 in USCHO’s Top 15 poll.

The team was No. 6 in the last poll released in mid-December.

The team, which includes New Hartford native Sydney Bard, has won five consecutive games following a 5-2 victory over Syracuse on Tuesday.

The team is 18-2-1 overall this season following the win.

Bard, a senior, is the team’s leading defender in points with 20 after adding an assist Tuesday. It is her second-highest total in her time at Colgate. Last weekend, Bard had her second three-assist game of the season on Saturday. She was named ECAC Defender of the Week for the third time this season Tuesday.

The Raiders scored a season-high 10 goals Saturday against Union, securing a two-win weekend in the Class of 1965 Arena.

Colgate’s 10-0 win is a record for the most goals scored in ECAC Hockey program history, breaking the previous mark of nine.
