Utica FC scores exhibition soccer win over Canada


UTICA — Utica City FC jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead en route to a 6-2 win over Canada in an international friendly contest on Sunday at the Utica Aud.

Liam Callahan, Bo Jelovac, Logan Roberts, Jake Schindler, Christian Segura and Nick Tunic all scored goals for the winners.

Utica goalie Andrew Coughlin stopped all seven shots he faced in the first half before Matt Perrella took over in the second half, making seven saves on nine shots.

The Canada team was made up of players from the Major Arena Soccer League's MetroStars Canada as well as other players in Ontario.

Utica opens its MASL season on Friday on the road against the Baltimore Blast at 7:35 p.m.

Utica opens its home season on Sunday, Nov. 24, against the Blast at the Utica Aud at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online at  www.empirestatetix.com, by phone 315-790-9070 or in person at the Utica Aud box office.
