WHITESBORO — The Utica Curling Club will be conducting youth curling programs for children ages 5 to 17 who are interested in learning how to curl.

The programs occur on most Sundays starting Nov. 13 and going until the end of March. The sessions will be conducted at UCC’s facility located at 8300 Clark Mills Road, Whitesboro.  The Little Rockers Program, which is for ages 5 to 12, will be held 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Junior Program, for ages 5 to 17 years old, will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Children younger than 10 years of age will need a parent or guardian on site.

All participants and anyone entering the facility will need to show proof of two COVID-19 vaccinations, according to a release from the curling club.

Full membership is $75 for the season or $25 for two sessions. All necessary equipment is provided and participants should wear warm, loose fitting clothing and bring a clean pair of athletic shoes. Please note that space is limited.

Registration is available at https://tinyurl.com/ucc-youth-curling. For questions, email Tami Dunnigan at youthcurling@uticaculingclub.org.

Curling Club to host Canadian team

The Utica Curling Club will be a stop on the Senior Women’s Friendship Tour on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

UCC is one of nine tour stops to host four teams comprised of 16 curlers from 12 clubs in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario.

Curlers from Albany and Rochester will also participate with Utica’s teams in the event.

According to a news release, "the Canadians will also be taken on a tour of the Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute and there will also be the traditional exchange of gifts at their noon time meal."

The tour was initiated in 1990 and operates on a three year rotation between the two countries, according to the release.
