UTICA  There is an opportunity for people to learning how to curl.

The Utica Curling Club will be holding Try Curling Clinics, which are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 and Friday, Oct. 14 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the club’s facility located at 8300 Clark Mills Road, Whitesboro.  

Participants must be at least 12 years old and anyone younger than 18 must have a parent or guardian present. Participants are required to have proof of at least three vaccination shots for COVID-19, according to a release from the curling club. The release also noted “there is consideration to reduce this current (COVID-19 vaccination) policy.”

No experience is needed for the clinic, but pre-registration is required. The cost of the clinic is $20 and participants need to bring a pair of clean athletic shoes and warm, loose-fitting or flexible clothing.

The Utica Curling Club will provide all the necessary equipment instruction regarding delivery, sweeping, strategy, rules and etiquette.

The Utica Curling Club has several levels of play ranging from recreational to competitive.  The club features men’s, women’s and mixed leagues along with programs for youths, juniors, college students, seniors and wheelchair curling.

Ice rentals for corporate team building, parties, or other private events are also available.
